Design engineering support

“Casting” as a production process involves certain requirements which have to be fulfilled in order for a component to be produced without a hitch. However, if handled properly these production restrictions by no means have to be a disadvantage for the product. We therefore offer our customers comprehensive support in the design of cast components. The development of a design which “meets casting requirements” is not left to the customer alone; instead it is developed in close consultation with the foundry. Here the customer’s design engineer supplies the knowledge about the function of the part and we supply the know-how about the production process. In addition to checking the moldability, the question of pourability is also a crucial consideration. Casting simulation is therefore an important tool. Cooperation between the foundry and the design engineer provides major advantages both in terms of economic efficiency and quality-related aspects. And it goes without saying that the function of the component is always the central focus in this development work. An important prerequisite for successful cooperation is that the foundry becomes involved in the development process at an early stage.
